Rules vs. Expectations: I choose to place expectations as opposed to rules because I see expectations as proactive instead of reactive-- and by using EXPECTations it lets you know that I believe you are capable of meeting them. I feel that this is a good approach because rules can be seen as reactive and as something to avoid and I want my students to strive for something. All of my expectations are based off of the concept of respect. My Classroom Rules/Expectations are listed below:
- Respect your peers space, ideas, and opinions
- Respect the classroom space
- Respect yourself; know your importance and your worth
- Respect me as your teacher as well as other adults; we only want the best for you!
- If you have an opinion or question, feel free to share but if someone else is speaking raise your hand and wait for them to finish
- Wait until there is downtime to work on other classwork or have PAT
- Cellphone use is not permitted unless permission is given-- The Chromebooks will be used often in class.
- No food unless documented reasons are obtained
